Types of surgery
It is categorized on different things such as urgency. Type of procedure, body system involvements etc.
below are some of the types of surgeries:-
Day Surgery is referred to as growing number of conditions in which operation is required, generally
day surgery is done in the day surgery department of the hospital and a patient comes directly to the
department have his / her surgery and goes back the same day.
Elective surgery is performed to correct a non-life-threatening condition, and is done as per the patent’s
request and subject to the surgeon's and the surgical facility's availability.
Emergency- It is done instantly to save the life of the patient or functional capacity. It is generally
performed in case of any accident, injury or sudden attack.
Exploratory – It is performed to aid or confirm a diagnosis of a specific disorder or disease.
Therapeutic surgery is done to treat a previously diagnosed condition on the patient.
Reconstructive - Itis performed for the reconstruction of a injured or mutilated part of the body.
Cosmetic –It is done to look up the appearance of an otherwise normal structure.
Transplant surgery is the replacement of an organ by inserting another organ. It is done in the living
person as well on the person who is no more live.
Bariatric procedure is performed in treating obesity. It is an effective procedure.
These surgeries are performed in different ways like laser surgery, is the technique of using laser for
cutting tissue instead of scalpel while performing the surgeries. Microsurgery involves use of microscope
in the surgery.
